Kay Julier: Feeling lucky to be able to do something she loves with freedom and flexibility

Charities play a huge role in our society, offering help, support and guidance to people who otherwise may go unheard or not understood. Kay Julier is responsible for helping make the lives of those suffering with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome more manageable and making sufferers feel less alone, through her fantastic work as Managing Director for Ehlers-Danlos Support UK. This genetic condition is an invisible disability, which may be in part why many of us haven’t heard of it before, that affects the body’s connective tissues that lies between each of our organs. Kay talks to Sandro about her career in medical research that led to her working for EDS and what the charity offers to people who suffer with the condition. Find out more about how the condition can take an average of 10 years to diagnose due to its very generic symptoms and how waiting this long can also leave sufferers with mental health conditions as a result of the wait.
