Juliet Barratt: Being true to your brand and going with your gut feeling
Juliet Barratt and her husband launched their sports nutrition brand ‘Grenade’ in 2010 and the success they achieved since then is quite phenomenal. In 2006 they trademarked the company and began developing and testing recipes in their own kitchen, then in 2010 at the tail end of the recession, they invested all their money in the business leaving themselves with only £27 in the bank! Their brave investment turned out to be the best investment they could ever have made, as the business was sold the majority share in 2017 for £72 million!!!! They now employ over 50 staff in their Solihull base and their products retail in 80 countries around the world.
