Having a Bad Day? Here’s How to Reset and Bounce Back Like a Pro
Aug 07, 2025Let’s start with a truth that often gets overlooked: Everyone has bad days. Even the most successful people you know (yes, me included) go through moments when things just don’t flow.
And here’s the thing—I’ve learned to deal with those days not by pushing harder, but by doing something counterintuitive…
I hit the reset button.
What That Means for Me
When things aren’t going well—when I feel off, overwhelmed, or unproductive—I take myself out of my usual environment.
That might mean:
-
Spending time with my kids or grandkids
-
Heading to the gym to burn off some energy
-
Simply doing something that makes me smile
Whatever it is, I remove myself from the pressure zone. Because when I do, my thinking shifts. I speak differently. I show up differently. And that’s where the magic begins.
Back to Basics
Once I’ve recharged, I return to what I know works: communication.
At the heart of it, we’re all in the communication business. And that starts with something as simple as picking up the phone and saying “hello.” No sales pitch. No expectations. Just a conversation.
When you let go of the pressure to “get a yes,” the outcome almost always improves—because you’re more relaxed, more present, and more authentic.
Here’s What I Remind Myself
Whenever I feel like the day’s slipping away from me, I remind myself of two simple truths:
-
Bad days happen to everyone. They’re not a sign of failure—they’re just part of the journey.
-
I have the power to reset. All it takes is stepping away, reconnecting with what brings me joy, and then doing what I do best: communicating with people.
So the next time you’re having a bad day, don’t beat yourself up.
Take a deep breath, step away from the noise, and remember: success often starts with a simple conversation.
Let’s keep showing up, together.
